OK, Comme des Garçons' deliciously earthy Eau de Parfum 2 isn't brand new, but its latest packaging screams "stocking stuffer"especially if your name happens to be Rubba. The standard tilted silver flask is now encased in a brown velvet bean bag, what CdG calls a "happy pillow." Perhaps we'll just let the promotional copy speak for itself: "The magic of comes [sic] when you touch it. Happy Pillow brings to our memory the tactile joy of caressing our childhood toys." Mmm. Finally you can beat itand without risk of prosecution! 1.7 oz for $65 at Comme des Garçons, 520 W. 22nd St., 212-604-9200, or Barneys New York, 212-826-8900.

We've long heard the praises of The Art of Shaving's Shaving Cream, but no matter how many essential oils it packed, no matter how creamy and dreamy its texture, we could never get over having to crack open a jar while perched at a life-threatening angle in the tub trying to manage our unwanteds. Of course, from a company offering such other wildly impractical goods (straight razors, horn bowls and brushes), our comfort was clearly not the point. But now they're throwing us a bone and offering the same cream in its three scents (Lemon, Lavender and a wonderfully strong Sandalwood) in a squeezy tube. Joy! 2.5 oz for $14 at Barneys New York, 212-826-8900

When we found out none other than Miss Lil' Kim uses Jaime Earle's Shea Butter Body Butter, we were automatically on board. And the intense, Crisco-like moisturizer, which features emu oil (how Lil' Kim of them to use an animal product!) does not disappoint. It's almost greasy but absorbs beautifully, leaving your skin protected against whatever could assail it (excepting perhaps an overexcited bodyguard). The line includes sugar and salt scrubs, oils and soaps, and all scents are botanical-ish (lemon, ginger-lime) but not overpowering. So throw on that Dolce & Gabbana fur bikini and lube upyour fans await. 2 oz for $20, www.jaimeearl.com

Hinterview Fabien Baron—graphics guru, branding visionary, multitasking myth-maker—can do more in 15 minutes than just about anyone. So it was no great surprise when news spread earlier this year that he'd been named editorial director of Andy Warhol's Interview. At his new West Village digs, he opened up to Hint about everything from his redesign of the magazine to his designs on the White House.
Shoptart You might think, given his collaboration with leather-goods house Schott, that Jeremy Scott is going butch. After all, Schott created the biker jackets worn by Marlon Brando and James Dean. But no, that manly legacy is given a swishy twist, like this rococo tea print of treasure trolls in pastoral repose. Also this month: Marni, Stella McCartney, Tom Binns and more. |
