You owe it to yourself to look good

To add to your collection of pretty bottles, just out is a highly original new scent from Hermès’s unisex Hermessence collection, a group of minimalist fragrances emphasizing natural elements over high-concept blends. Paprika Brasil is based on Brasil wood (which, in French, translates to “burning wood”—not that this scent has anything to do with your latest STD). Adding fuel to the fire are capsicum pepper and clove. V. v. hot. $190 for 100ml at select Hermès stores, or $135 for a sampler kit.

It’s hard enough digging through your giant bag for your cell phone and happy pills, much less your lipstick. Make the thing most crucial to your mental health a little easier to find. Mojo, an upstart lipstick line, has cooked up a heat-proof, crush-proof refillable lipstick that attaches to your key ring. Color Pin-Up, a Barbarella-esque candy pink, is a properly futuriffic filler for such a technology (though there are five others and a balm to choose from). So the next time you find yourself having to talk your way out of a moving violation, you’ll be ready for your closeup. (Or your mug shot.) $18 at www.mojocosmetics.us

Forget the cloying indie band. We're recommending you slap on some of Lancôme’s insane Fatale mascara in Sapphir Glamour (€23), a most miraculous sparkly navy. Many have tried to do glittery mascara and many have failed, producing chunky disasters that could take out your eye. This stuff is as subtle as an intensely volumizing and high-drama mascara can be. Bad news: it's not available in the U.S. (yet). Good news: another excuse to hop over to Paris.

British makeup artist Jemma Kidd clearly understands what we need in high-intensity eye color. The Irridescent Eye Silk Crayon ($22) by her new line Jemma Kidd Makeup School glides on and smudges without requiring serious rubbing (thus it’s also easy to correct mistakes). Miraculously, once you’ve got the idiot-proof color where you want it, it sets to a stay-put powder finish—no creasing, no traveling. With Ocean, a shimmery turquoise, even a four-thumbed novice can perfect a professional-looking smoky eye. We give her an A+.

Intellectual rigor is the reserve of few designers. Hussein Chalayan is one of them. Like his futuristic laser dresses, the twice-crowned British Designer of the Year is light years ahead of the fashion curve. Haidee Findlay-Levin caught up with her longtime friend to discuss the things that make Hussein Hussein.

 Shoptart
While Camelot is over for Olivier Theyskens, it isn't stopping Nina Ricci from showing some First Lady love by relaunching their famous Jackie O sunglasses. Also this month: Paul Smith, Mi Concept, Isabel Marant, Zero + Maria Cornejo and more.
