Speaking of seasonal heat and humidity, who wants to be plunging their sweaty mitts in a vat of sticky wax, even if a hot butch quiff is the end result? There are a few spray waxes out there, but most of them get gummy in the can before you can reach the bottom. Not Sherbet, made by Ossis, a German hair care offshoot of high-end company Schwarzkopf (800-707-9997). It's cool and crackly on your hands, with a nice directional spray, to boot. Good hair in the summer? Achtung!

The pharmacy began cranking out floral waters in the 1200s, solidified them in the 1500s, and still sells many of the formulas today. Needless to say, when Florentine perfumery Santa Maria Novella releases something new, it's a big deal. Thus, we bid a special how-do-you-do to the Relax bath and body line. BD is most excited about Fluid Cream ($50), a light and easily absorbed lotion scented so appetizingly with cinnamon, orange, rosemary and lavender you'll want to eat it.

We'd like to apologize for any eye-rolling that occurred when we first heard about Mark, Avon's new fashion-forward offshoot. That's right, Avon. But the stuff is, well, cute. And, swear to god, you can buy it online without having an annoying chick show up trying to pyramid you to become a seller yourselfcrucial because we would not be going there, even to procure See Through Lip Shine, an extremely shiny, moisturizing gloss-gel that moisturizes and wears forever. It comes in a skinny, stackable little square, in six colors including the divinely neutral, gold-flecked Cola. Since trying it on, we have worn nothing else. Thank god for web-induced isolation.

Not everyone's brow story has as happy an ending as this month's Spa Trek (see sidebar). Perhaps, for instance, you're one of the many tragic victims of over-tweezing or -trimming? Have hope: The friendly eye technicians at Talika have cooked up a veritable toupee for your face with their Eyebrow Extender. It's a clear gel with dark, natural-looking fibers that groom and lengthen your browsall without any creepy color-staining or flaking. |

BD has always been skeptical about the New York obsession with professionally done brows. If you can't manage a set of tweezers, we figured, then you have bigger issues than personal grooming to worry about. And what if your brow person blows it? It can take weeks, even months, to fix itwouldn't you rather have only yourself to blame? Then we got the call to try out veteran brow-shaper Laura Ungureanu at the monumentally revamped Mark Garrison Salon and suffice it to say, we changed our minds. The gentle Romanian (no, that's not an oxymoron) is not into cookie-cutter over-trimming or anemic tweezing, opting to simply refine our Brooke Shieldsian naturalness and even out that subtle asymmetry that so often afflicts the non-ambidextrous. She's also a firm believer in teaching clients to perform their own maintenance, cutting down on the pathetic personal services dependency of which we so disapprove. With fans like Cindy Crawford and Queen Noor, clearly she's not worried about rendering herself obsolete. Brow-shaping, $65.
