You owe it to yourself to look good

While we love a bracing shower gel for actual cleansing, when we bust out the razor, we're a bit less confrontational with our skin. And though milder shaving cream can be heavenly, the crusty bits loaded with discarded whiskers that persevere in the bathtub long after our 5 o'clock leg-shadow comes back are not so much. Thus we're thrilled to announce that our favorite milky shower soap, Roger & Gallet's Gentle Nature Moisturizing Body Cream, has come to these shores from Paris. The soap's bamboo sap is supposed to restore skin's elasticity but we're just glad it cleans, doesn't dehydrate, and dissolves down the drain like magique. At Clyde's Chemist, 212-744-5050.
We developed a crush on Tarte when we first tried their double-ended lip gloss. We fell hard upon sampling their genius Cheek Stains (possibly the greatest gel blushes on the planet). Now we of the anemic, chappy, totally unsucculent lips are swooning again thanks to Rise & Shine, a combination lip stain (we love the pink shade, which makes you look bitten, with a hint of deep berry) and sheer pink plumping gloss. After letting the stain set and applying the top coat, all rich in tripeptides and whatnot, we caught a look at our beak in a passing mirror and, though we'll never give Angelina a run for her money, something was definitely happening.

As we're all up in that pink lip gloss mentioned above, we need a good liner to go with it. But in 2007 when that Tarte stain wears off, we'd like to make sure our lipline goes with it. And so comes Lancôme to our aid with Le Lipstyque Sheer—sort of like lip liner lite. Sheer Escapade, a perfect pink with a hint of shimmer, has a gentle enough color and application to do the job without leaving you looking like Kim Mathers.

We're constantly bitching about the lack of decent finishing and smoothing products out there. Most of the time something rich enough to take care of shaggy ends greases us up by the end of the day. But then lighter products, with all their alcohol, tend to strip color. Redken's Clear Moisture Instant Polishing Prep is a wonder-spray, then. Its silicone and glycerin levels are light, and its apricot oil absorbs without getting too slick. Now we can start bitching about something else. At most salons.

If Henri Bendel's newest scented candle, Banana Flower, is any indication, products scented with banana blooms smell a lot better than products scented with bananas—which, to us, are usually reminiscent of grade-school candy necklaces or car fresheners. Instead of sickly sweet and synthetic, think floral, fresh and, yes, a bit fruity. $30 at 1-800-HBENDEL.

Fabien Baron—graphics guru, branding visionary, multitasking myth-maker—can do more in 15 minutes than just about anyone. So it was no great surprise when news spread earlier this year that he'd been named editorial director of Andy Warhol's Interview. At his new West Village digs, he opened up to Hint about everything from his redesign of the magazine to his designs on the White House.

01, 22, 16. Nope, it’s not bingo night; it's the numerical filing system at Maison Martin Margiela. Adding to the mathematical fun is a new line of fine jewelry in absurdist proportions and scale. Also this month: Comme de Garçons for H&M, Louis Vuitton and more. By Franklin Melendez

"Madonna starves herself on a raw macrobiotic kosher vegan kaballah diet and works out three hours a day to maintain the physique of a 12-year-old gymnast boy, and then has the cheeks of a 300-pound woman implanted into her face. And her forehead is like a plastic baby's bottom. It's like Nicole Kidman's forehead at the height of her botox addiction, and we all remember how unfortunate that era was."
