Out of Africa
The Double Club, launching November 21, is the latest project from the Fondazione Prada. Conceived by German-Swedish artist Carsten Höller, the "influential environment," as he calls it, consists of a bar, restaurant and dance club in an old Victorian warehouse in London. By mixing contemporary art from the Congo (i.e. the stage dress of guitarist Luambo Makiadi, a painting by Mosengwo Kejwamfi) with that of the West (Andy Warhol, Carla Accardi, Olle Baertling), he aims to create a dialogue between the two worlds.
