Greater Japan at Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton's resort 2018 collection, shown yesterday at Miho Museum near Kyoto, burst with historical Japanese references. Singular Singularity: Comme des Garçons Fall 2017

Typically, and particularly for fall 2017, it seems as if there is neither beginning nor end, neither time nor place. Attempts to discern meaning usually prove futile — although clearly a statement is being made.

His references take on a plethora of past present, pop and future, which was evident in his Inspirations retrospective at Les Arts Decoratifs museum in 2014. But this time, the inspirations were all him.
