In 1969, stripping chastity belts of their prudish image, a Cartier designer named Aldo Cipullo used the contraption to conceive the Love Bracelet, with its two parts that lock together with, naturally, a screwdriver. From that, this larger 18K yellow gold Love Cuff was born.
Lowdown: Cartier managed to have June 8 officially declared Love Day in New York City and recruited such digital artists as Olivier Dahan and John Maeda to contribute to its website.
Price: $36,500 (eternal love isn't cheap)
At: Cartier, 653 Fifth Ave., NYC, 212-753-0111

Now you can pull off a sporty figure-skater look without a heinous spandex body suit, thanks to Yoji Yamamoto for Y-3. Behold his ice skate-inspired Phasma 40 women's shoe—debuting this fall—with a transparent heel (hence the ghostly name).
Lowdown: Available (Sept. 1) in black or white leather; comes in the plexiglass box seen here. The Phasma 90 has a more extreme heel, based on the starting position of a runner's foot.
Price: $500
At: Y-3 stores worldwide.

Hint Shop The modern cultural history of Sweden and Norway pretty much boils down to ABBA versus Black Metal. As in, lilting melodies to disco beats versus shrieking vocals to grating guitar distortion. With this as its founding principle, dark denim label Anti-Sweden takes aim at Swedish skinnies. |
