Hedi Slimane, Dior Homme
Jan 06: After unparking our Dior Homme-clad derrieres from the bleachers at the label's fall '06 show, we busted out our laptops and headed to the virtual pit stop of the house's creative director, Hedi Slimane, who—as we've been hinting—has been busy working on his legacy as an artist. In fact, judging from his personal portal, which serves exclusively as a showcase for the photographer and furniture-maker—with nary a mention of Dior, one could get the impression that the designer's sartorial work is a side project to his other pursuits. Image-driven with a minimum of stark white-on-black text, the website features flash slideshows, and a few videos, of his many projects, including photography books, gallery shows and editorial work for magazines around the world, as well as his furniture line F System (for a surprise, don't miss the boyish designer posing puppet-style with his chairs) and his forays into set design and interior architecture. Before driving off to the real after-party, we got a taste of what to expect in another section featuring pics of Slimane and friends at soirees around the globe—pals like Elton John, Kim Gordon and, yep, Pete Doherty.
