There's UK street fashion, then there's London-based Ground Zero. Launched in 2003 by brothers and graphic artists Eri and Philip Chu, the unisex label is more than getting off the ground, it's taking off, already selling in some of the world's best stores: Selfridges, Harvey Nichols Hong Kong and Seven New York.

The diktats of the house of Balenciaga are, once again, reverberating across fashion. For spring, it's like a petal pandemic, with floral prints blooming all over the place. With the launch of an e-boutique, still more Balenciaga can be had, like this floral City bag, a web exclusive. Also this month: Miu Miu, Topshop, Issey Miyake and more...

That, Dracula, was entirely gratuitous. J'adore G.B.

I wasn't aware that Anna Wintour was a descendant of Elizabeth Hervey Foster Cavendish, 2nd duchess of the 5th duke of Devonshire. A Hervey no less! Lol! "God created men, women, and Herveys." {Read the article - I'm sure there's one - re the 7th Marquess of Bristol.} I looked and there's no mention of the fact that Elizabeth spent her own money to aid the preservation of Rome's Colliseum. The popes are mentioned. Speaking of the above, the movie "The Duchess" is set to be released in September. Re the first duchess, Georgiana, I believe. I didn't look to see who would be playing the part of Elizabeth Hervey Foster. I don't know if Anna Wintour can read. Isn't it time some fashion school gave her an honourary diploma?

Hmmmmm? Carroll Davidson Wright. Referring to the French Canadians as "the Chinese of the eastern states". {Assimilation and loss of language.} Italians "certainly eat enough" but not well and were suited only for "light labor". Apparently not robust.
(O)..(O) "The Slums of Baltimore, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia." A study written "in a factual manner almost devoid of interpretive text." So modern really given what I've been reading re the Hispanics in America and the "illegals".

Pierre Lavalliere's "Negres blanc d'Amérique" or "White niggers of America", 1971. I suppose if I was looking for the face of a middle-aged gay man for the cover of a book, his I think. He's dead and won't complain. Germaine Greer's coverboy did complain:)

What children should read? Blake and Byron. "The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom." You'll have to guess which:)

Henri Focillon's Vie des Formes, 1934. Imagine a gown found in your grandmother's trunk in the attic, a gown packed carefully. The dress is too short for you and it was designed for someone who has breasts; however, the material is exquisite and the colours still gorgeous. You have no use for it?

A preoccupation with method. Wright was certainly preoccupied, never questioning himself. It simply raises what is problematic in scientific reporting.

T is thinking about buying a house here. A buyer's market at the moment. I think the market will heat up again next spring. Various reasons why the economy here won't suffer as much of a recessionist backspin from the U.S. He likes Canada. So far. He's certainly not a chauvinist about language and his English is rapidly improving. He is on friendly terms with his ex-wife and cares about her. Dennis dropped by, delivered virtually a soliloquy and wandered out again:) T was amused. "Does he do that often?" (O)..(O) I think we were hearing something from Strange Interlude. Ref. O'Neill. Storming on all day or trying.

My little brother Lu mentioned the surreal Un Chien andalou some time ago here.

Synge's In The Shadow of the Glen {or The Shadow of the Glen} and The Playboy of the Western World.

On the contrary! lol! "boring as balls" and "take it out".
"A daring fellow is the jewel of the world."

Not to fret, she's protected by Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather.

Even the word makes puck! Assistants in vintage clothes shop and stalls are way better than the designer travelling around the word for "inspiration". It is a well know story of a married couple, both designers, that were expelled from a Parisian store because they were taking pictures of the clothes (they could at least be smart and turn off the flash or, as designers, they could draw)

The Greeks who colonized in France, for example Marseilles, and Sicily, Syracuse. ♪ Baby, you're not that kind... I gave you my key....

The legend that descendants of the Knights Templar were behind the storming of the Bastille is interesting inasmuch as the Knights swore poverty, obedience, and chastity. What descendants? Guantanamo seems to have become a similar symbol of absolutism-yet-to-fall. Mind you, Americans wouldn't have to steal arms ...

Comment te dire adieu. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_hJySxuaxY

Well the therapeutic value of music is as old {at least} as Saul and David, and we know how well they got along.

The angels all were singing out of tune, And hoarse with having little else to do, Excepting to wind up the sun and the moon, Or curb a runaway young star or two .... Byron.

"She had the passions and instincts which make a model goddess, that is, those which make not quite a model woman."

"In God We Trust". But, while believing in a Creator, they took the view that He tossed the ball and let it roll; that is to say, He is not active in the world. Ruling elites say otherwise because they harnass God to their yoke. A yoke of course would have two pulling and of course the underclasses walk with God.

What's love got to do with it? Geoffrey Hill's "The Triumph Of Love".
The third postcard this week. "Beloved of Ptah, etc." With her bf exploring Santorini and Crete. And "rip-off taxies!" A night in a "real hotel" with air-conditioning and she had her laundry done. The Akrotiri site was closed; however they had a marvelous time. "Most beloved Father". This one written on a "bumpy bus". Something about working on a graphic novel with, I think, the text in German. I certainly hope not! She's back in Greece with the gay bf and a few gf's, in Athens, on to Delphi and she's "so tanned too". Oh, a biography about her grandfather. And "Hello Papa". An Egyptian exhibit at the Archaeological Museum in Athens, spent hours there. {She said goodbye to some new friends on their way to Egypt.} The bf was patient. Something about a display of an underwater treasure trove that was hidden during a Goth invasion in the 3rd century A.D. "Some very beautiful stuff." Stuff? Hmmm. Oh, this was the first of the three, they're embarking on their "world tour". "We're going to rock this trip!" A little sketch of the Egyptian Queen with her children (18th dynasty imitation) beside the Olympic stamp. Oh she mentioned Mykonos and a beach, a long ferry trip and the bf was sick. "I forgot how much I like swimming, a mermaid in the ocean." A sea...
