Dior knows how to celebrate its own. At the Palais de Tokyo in Paris on Monday, the house organized a blitz exhibition (lasting only a few days) for Tyen, the single-named art director of Dior Cosmétiques. Vietnamese-born, the maquillage master arrived in Paris in 1970, working with the biggest photographers of the day, from Guy Bourdin to Cecil Beaton, before heading to the maison and starting a parallel career as a photographer. Combining the two, Tyen has had 30 amazing years of fantastic illusions, deep colors, sinuous bodies and voluptous lips, creating a vast cosmetics business that allows for LVMH's less profitable lines. Money-maker and visionary, Tyen has recently—and thanks to Photoshop—transformed Monica Bellucci into the ultimate beauty icon. Le tout Paris attended the opening, including La Bellucci (simply divine), Bruce Willis (drop-dead sexy), Claude Montana (yes, still alive) and the complete LVMH family, more than happy to congratulate Tyen.
