Alexandre Herchcovitch

There's something untouchable about a person who can bear cruelty and still maintain angelic poise, and that’s exactly the type of poetic plaisance Alexandre Herchcovitch’s collection exuded. Based on a nomadic princess’s break from the harsh reality of the Soviet Bloc, the studded yet billowing etheric silk blouses and dresses, jackets whose costume brooch epaulets had slid down the arms, quilted folkloric patterns, and crocheted armor of rubber and glittering yarn were for warrior women whose potent menace is their ability to disarm with intentions of peace. They literally twinkled as they moved, with headdresses of brass chains, charms and bells layered over twisted silk. The tension between intangible weight and flouncy levity made this show truly esoteric.
