The days of lamenting how Paris gets to have all the cool things are numbered. The recent influx of Gallic names—Ladurée, Céline, Isabel Marant, Le Baron—to the Big Apple has made the long-distance love affair with France a bit more bearable.
And now comes another foxy-by-proxy label. Kitsuné, the trés Parisian brand that combines fashion, design, lifestyle and a record label, will debut its first New York retail space next month, at Broadway and 28th Street in the NoMad district (aka north of Madison Park—don't worry, we hadn't heard of it either). Expect an abundance of preppy, vaguely nautical separates for women and men, as well as offerings from Monocle, Michel Vivien, Aesop and a collaborative loafer with shoemaker J.M. Weston, aptly named the New Yorker—all awash in the cozy ambiance of a Haussmann-style apartment.
