Fanny packs haven't been considered au courant since the reign of Vanilla Ice, but they might just be making a comeback for spring. Once the carry-alls of our early 90s nightmares, the packs—aka bum bags, in more polite countries—were featured in both the Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton collections. Predictably, they were cooler than anything we toted around our waists back in the day. American Apparel (duh) is slated to roll out a gold metallic version later this season, while Marks & Spencer will launch a studded leather pack in May. But our favorites come courtesy of Walter Van Beirendonck. Recalling Viktor & Rolf's fall 2008 collection, the "belt bags" feature 3-D letters spelling out FIRE and FLY in lieu of pouches. A reference to cute little bugs or a grave warning? You be the judge.
