Having seemingly taken a page from the Footballers’ Wives handbook, Courtney Love now defines her sartorial evolution in pre- and post-Birkin terms. Like a new moneyed mistress (or an old whore), the singer refuses to name the benevolent individual who gifted her the bag, lamenting the fact she’s only just received one at age 45. “It’s kind of tragic when you think about it,” Love tells WWD. Does that mean Love has sworn off outré ensembles for more staid fare? Yes, it seems. As the singer is quick to point out, dressing like a lady instead of a boho tramp has its benefits. “Someone from Lagerfeld’s camp told me that some of the front-row ladies wearing all the kooky stuff don’t get laid,” Love explains. Though still a relative fashion neophyte, the singer remains an expert in certain fields. “If you want to know which rehab to go to, ask me,” Love recalls of one industry dinner conversation. “I’m the Condé Nast Traveler guide to rehabs.”
