For designers, mining the archives for nuggets of forgotten gold is all the rage. The latest to partake in the economical and eco-friendly practice is that prince of prints, Dries Van Noten, who celebrates the new Andreas Murkudis concept store in Berlin, where he's stocked, with a project whose time was long overdue. Nicely arranged in the front of the store, Van Noten has selected 30 archival fabrics from the last 12 years, which customers can then whittle down to five as they customize their own Daya dress, already a hit from the fall '11 collection. Each of the five printed fabrics will make up the various panels of the patchwork dress to create a totally (well, almost) unique creation. Custom-ordered between July 6 and September 15, the dresses are guaranteed to be in your hands before October is out.
