Fashion Comes Out for Gay Marriage

We’re of the mind that whether it’s two Sapphic supermodels or a 69-year-old fashion icon and his 21-year-old underwear-model boytoy, any flavor of love makes the world a more beautiful place. And while, since the summer, New Yorkers have been able to wed whomever they damn well please, the state is one of only six to recognize same-sex marriage.

But last night, at the Calvin Klein flagship in Manhattan, a group of New York heavy-hitters including Anna Wintour, Robert DeNiro, Neil Patrick Harris, and Francisco Costa gathered to launch Americans for Marriage Equality, a campaign to promote equal marriage rights nationwide. Spearheaded by the Human Rights Campaign, the movement is an expansion of New Yorkers for Marriage Equality, which successfully rallied support for same-sex marriage in the Empire State.

In addition to the well-heeled crowd—i.e. Hamish Bowles, Sally Singer and even professional gala-goer Courtney Love—guests at the launch got to check out a specially commissioned sculpture by Nathaniel Rackowe.
