Prior to becoming Ricardo Tisci’s confidant, assistant and fit model, Lea T. was a nice Italo-Brazilian Catholic boy named Leo, with dreams of becoming a veterinarian. Soon after meeting freshly minted Central St Martins grad Tisci, however, Leo began embracing his inner femme. “One night he encouraged me to wear heels to a party,” the transgender—or rather, transitioning—mannequin says to French Vogue's Carole Sabas in the current issue, for which she also bravely posed nude. “We went to buy drag queen shoes and bleached my brows. It was a revelation.” When she decided to pursue a permanent tuck, the Givenchy designer was by her side, ultimately enlisting photogs Mert & Marcus to shoot the much-hyped fall campaign in which she appears alongside supes Mariacarla Boscono and Joan Smalls. Boasting both male and female parts, the in-demand, Milan-based model expects to go the full monty “as soon as the papers are in order.”
