Karl Lagerfeld

High-Karl Diet

Karl Lagerfeld's svelte physique, indomitable work ethic and penchant for keeping young company may belie his 76 years, but speculation surrounding his would-be Chanel successor continues to swirl. Jak and Jil shutterbug Tommy Ton got the blogosphere in a tizzy when he teased his Twitter followers by revealing that he was privy to some seemingly earth-shattering fashion news, details of which he didn't offer. This in turn led many to wonder if Ton was speaking of Herr Lagerfeld's imminent departure from Chanel. As old and stale as that rumor is, if that's what he's referring to, here's something to munch on: the designer has just been honored with a dish in his name at Parisian restaurant La Gioia. The Karl Lagerfeld salad is an Alaskan king crab confection with sea salt, lemon juice and yes, bread crusts. Has the finicky Kaiser gone back to carbs? Now that's a rumor.
