You've Seen the Cast of Lanvin's Fall Campaign, Now Hear Them Speak

For Lanvin’s fall campaign video, Alber Ebaz lets his diverse cast of glamazons speak for themselves. Mirroring the print campaign, the video features the voices of these “individuals with individuality," from a “legendary dancer" from the Apollo Theater to a collector of vintage saltshakers. Decked out in head-to-toe Lanvin, they represent a range of ages (18-82) and personal styles, including a guy with a grown-out bleached shag, an artist type with a bushy blond beard, and a skinny young thing with the look of a French ingenue but the mouth of, like, a Valley Girl.

Appearing alone in richly appointed rooms, the mostly American cast (subtitled en Français, naturellement) talks to Steven Meisel’s camera in a stop-motion style, while accessories pile up around them. The result feels like disembodied snippets overheard at a well-heeled dinner party.

Unlike last fall, which saw Ebaz dancing to Pitbull, this year’s vid only features an audio cameo from the designer. At the end of a story about the dancer’s first trip to Paris at the age of 81, Ebaz counters, “Paris is coming to you!"
