After spending the better part of two decades near the top at Balmain, Christian Dior, Lacoste and Jean Paul Gaultier, then five years as chief designer of Kenzo, the 42-year-old Gilles Rosier has finally cut the corporate cord. Well, he's had his eponymous line since 1996, but this spring marks the first time the Frenchie devotes himself to it on a full-time basis, which means muttering those two nearly impossible words to say to a steady paycheck: "I quit." A huge fan of the dance, Rosier has since designed costumes for numerous productions, and it shows with this theatrical white collar dress, flouncy and free among a collection of otherwise smoky, Dietrich-style tuxes. Seems Rosier is still married to his job. In Paris at Onward, 147 Blvd St. Germain, 75006, +33 01 55 42 77 56, and in Boston at Louis Boston, 234 Berkeley Street 02116, 617-262-6100.
