From mean jeans to scene queens,
Hint pays attention to retail
For his Fall collection, Karl Lagerfeld has teamed up with Diesel to conjure up some of the leanest, meanest jeans ever made. The Kaiser's fondness for streetwise style is the perfect match for Diesel's tongue-in-cheek take on urban outfitting. Together, they've cut skintight denim trousers that showcase every curve. Patti Smith's ambisexual allure is the inspiration for Ann Demeulemeester's men's line, with loose, revealing poet shirts paired with lean, patterned trousers. Demeulemeester's non-threatening balladeers are a bit askew, and their asymmetrical necklines and dangling strings are in tune with the designer's talent for invention, avoiding a stitch-by-stitch recreation of the original look.
